The Cambridge Companion to Thucydides

For all of the reasons I've benefitted from other Cambridge companion books, I've equally gained from this study of Thucydides and his monumental History of the Peloponnesian War.

Although a few chapters delve into seemingly pointless academic droll, the vast majority of them simply draw me further into the classical world.  And a chapter or two bring sheer joy.

And now that I'm well into Thucydides' History itself, albeit a re-reading from perhaps 20 years ago, the pages are flying by.

These Cambridge companion books are a treasure.
