Sophocles I - The Complete Greek Tragedies

Continuing my study of ancient Greek tragedy with this volume of Sophocles, featuring Antigone, Oedipus the King and Oedipus at Colonus.

Not much new to add here except that my enjoyment of and appreciation for these works is growing.  They really do hold a mirror to ancient Athenian society, if not portraying life as it was, then reflecting how it wished to be seen.

Oedipus at Colonus was completely new to me, having read the other works previously.  It tells of Oedipus' final resting place in Athens, granting peace to that city by fulfilling a prophecy of the Oracle at Delphi that protected the city which sheltered his final resting place.
