I've always gravitated towards epic works and The Stand was no exception. At more than 1300 pages it's likely the longest single volume work I've ever read, and I'm happy to say it was epic in both quantity and quality.
After reading two back to back King books I am dumbfounded with just how wrong my misconceptions were about his writing. He is without a doubt my go-to beach read author moving forward. His writing is smart, his characters are deep and original and his plots keep the pages rolling.
With great irony I will keep this review as short as the work was long. I need to get back to my history reading, but I hope I will get to read many more King volumes before all is said and done.
