Festivals of the Athenians by H.W. Parke

This is exactly the type of book of which I need to read more.  A specialty subject, written to an audience that is more serious than the general reader, yet not for scholars.  

And the topic of Athenian festivals cuts such a wide swathe of subjects that it added to tremendously to my understanding of its classic society.  Religion, politics, daily life, food, entertainment, art, music.  I could go on and on.

A tremendous find that challenged me yet kept me hooked throughout.
